I thought it would be fun to record for posterity the various ways we counted down to baby girl's birth. (This is really not interesting at all, but one day I'm sure Mark and I will look back and laugh--and baby girl might get a kick out of it someday too.)
Mark says that when he and his brothers were little, they counted down to special events by the date on the milk carton. When the date on the milk carton was after the upcoming big day, that meant it was close! It was fun that Mark and I happened to be at Aldi together last week when we bought the first milk carton with an expiration date after November 10. We may or may not have had a celebration in the middle of Aldi, with excited whoops and high-fiving. Yes. No shame.
When I was little, or not-so-little, I counted down by one of two ways: either the due date of library books or the 10-day weather forecast. (I checked out library books often enough to do this...and I consistently checked the weather forecast...I admit to being a complete nerd.) We hit the library book due date mark a while ago, since library books can be checked out for 3 weeks. But I was excited today to see this:
Her due date is now on the 10-day forecast! Woohoo!
yay!! so close!! i don't think i've ever verbalized the milk carton countdown, but that's definitely one i do. :) can't wait to meet you baby girl!
